Please get in touch before any planned trip. We are generally open 7 days a week (usually 9.00-4.00, though there are some evening facilities and there is always somebody on site for security).
The Centre is designed for all visitors to enjoy and explore. Staff will give guided tours and make the past come alive in front of you. The most important thing with time is to have fun with it. We hope you enjoy your time with us.
The Time Machine is being developed in the main hall and is a top secret project, so mums the word. Around the main inspirational zone, we have a weird set of instruments related to time and measurement.
Also on display in the hall are exhibits showing what goes in to actually making clocks. As well as clocks we also have many other items ranging from rare and unusual industrial machines such as a Pittler lathe to the very basics such as a file. You will see demonstrations of actual items being made on site.
You will soon get involved with this stimulating and enriching process that encourages you to challenge yourself and reconsider the world around you.
The Time Garden, since 1968 a parade ground and we have a fantastic fenced area to enjoy. We recently planted three hundred trees, three of them represent:
1. The growth of the educational revolution.
2. The ever-ending ripples of the ancient game of Go.
- The growth of the South Downs National Park
The trees form a NWSE cross in the garden with the mature trees and represent new horizons to the area and a commitment to sustainability.
This is a nice place to have a sit down and a chat. Meet our 6ft octopus, watch out for the Lancaster and hooray for the Victory. Meet the laughing politicians and their alien counterparts (we won't tell you which is which). Try and complete the ancient manuscript. With ancient games, use of taste, vision, and sound, we will transport you back in time.
Many thanks to Portsmouth Water.
