A warm welcome to the ReclaimFun project
Consider the magic of taking something apart and exploring the creative opportunity of finding how it works, the magic science, very fabric of it. Enter the world of the ReclaimFun project. Why not book a ReclaimFun workshop and start the journey.
Within a few minutes you take apart, create, explore and broaden understanding of HOW things work. Thinking inside the box, an essential skill, using tools to explore, developing fundamental life skills. We then think outside the box!
Powerful techniques, taught at University level, achievable at all levels. Within minutes, young people are able to find inputs, outputs and process's, Eureka for all, they can draw and understand and explain to others HOW things work and WHY. We use the good old mechanical age to show this visually, then how it relates to modern times.
Now lets flip the coin, Imagine living in a house, hospital, school, college industry, full of clutter. NOT GOOD.
Now lets consider waste, we all hate it so well! Why take interesting stuff to the dump, contaminate it and land fill? In 100, or 200 years time, or sooner, they will think we where as mad as George the III, 'you put those valuable chemicals and materials, all mixed up, so they could not be reused, underground or burnt them!'
The concept is to teach science and nature (environment) as one, with the concept of sustainable design. Lets take a carpet, boring you might think, but worn out underfoot, what chemicals and materials are useful to whom? A carpet manufacturer! They can take back the carpet (in the empty van used for deliveries) and recycle it into another. But best of all, is when re-use is part of the fabric of design and to optimise this. This is a simple case here, can be applied to all, sustainable re-use design, not make and destroy,
We hope by now, you see the picture, a clear and focused one, effeciency and low impact, but still provide the necessary products that make up human life.
